La Pepia are the pioneers of the Rainbow Arepa.

Our Story

La Pepiá began in 2016 on the iconic Brick Lane in East London. Serving up a unique flare on the traditional Arepa. Since then, we were the first Venezuelan eatery to ever trade in the world famous Borough Market in 2019, whilst continuing our residency at our home in Maltby St Market.

After 5 years trading at Maltby Street as hot food traders we have stoped for now WE ARE NO LONGER IN MALTBY STREET MARKET.

Now we are back again to BOROUGH MARKET as producers with a new offering:

1.Our Artisan Salsas (Inspired by my Grandma’s recipe)

2.A NEW VERSION OF THE AREPA

(Also inspired by my Abuelita’s Arepas) a corn-based savoury donut, Freshly made by hand from responsibly sourced British ingredients that we add to the dough, like cheddar cheese, olive & rosemary, and we also have a sweet one with guava jam and halloumi cheese. They are round shaped with a hole in the middle, it looks like a bagel or donut.

The gluten free alternative for bread.

OUR AREPA STYLE

We make Rainbow Arepas. The arepa is a naturally gluten free corn bun famed across South America. As well as the famed classic, ours is a reinvention of it, more like a “CORN-BASED SAVORY DONUT” . View our menu here.

The Cheese Blanket

Made by accident one weekend in Maltby St Market, our signature cheese blanket has become what we are most known for. An ooey gooey layer of cheddar melted directly in front of you, before being thrown over an arepa.
